Traveling with your Laptop
This new carryon with expanding

than most (just a little) but well worth its weight in gold for

USB &
Firewire step off...
First there was USB, then firewire
now USB 2.0... enter CardBus! with speed well above that of firewire
and USB 2.0, Cardbus is where its at for speed when looking for
fire transfer, video editing or whatever your demands are for
throughput. When shopping for devices for your laptop, look for
devices that utilize Cardbus technology to get maximum performance.

Power Saving, LCDs and background
color...
{08.29.04}
Background color does make a difference on power usage. I have
a Sony Vaio laptop and for years I have always set my background
color to black. I like black, and I did some tests quite some
time ago and found at least on my laptop that I get 10 to 15
more minutes of power out of it.
I have had several engineers
and power users write me and tell me I'm wrong about this and
that there is no difference what color it is. They said that
a pixel uses the same power whether its on or off. Well my own
personal experience disputes those comments. I encourage you
to do your own experiment and write me about it. I would love
to see the results and I'll post them here.
